The Teachers
Andrew is known for his enthusiasm and infectious energy both on the dance floor and in classes, creating comfortable conversational dances and prioritising responsive feedback in his classes. A regular at European mix'n'match finals, Andrew has won the Studio Hop Fast Feet competition two years in a row and placed 3rd in the Valencia ProAm.
Eloise is admired for her musicality and love of switch dancing. In classes, she empowers follows to explore more possibilities within their own styling and influence of the dance. She is up for a laugh both on the dance floor and in classes, with no idea being too silly or too extravagant. Eloise opened a swing school in Canada, and has been teaching for numerous years, with a few wins as a lead at the Canadian Swing Championships, both in balboa and lindy hop.
The Band
Three's Company is an Oxford-based New Orleans/Chicago-style jazz band playing music from the 1920s and 30s: think Louis Armstrong, with Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and Great American Songbook repertoire (Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald) thrown into the mix. This is classic New Orleans/Chicago jazz/swing: raw and authentic without slavishly following any particular formula. The band comprises excellent musicians who play because they love it and will be playing at Balboa Beckons as a quintet.
Parking at Old Headington Village Hall
If you are planning to come by car, there are some parking spaces at the hall (but please do not block entry to the hut at the back which belongs to the guides), and plenty more free parking less than half a mile away down the road: on Dunstan Road itself, or Foxwell Drive, Halliday Hill or Saxon Way.
