Teachers
Natalia Rueda describes her first experience of balboa as “love at first dance”. Known for her lively and technically precise teaching approach, Natalia has infectious energy and passion and a wonderfully distinctive flair and grace. Her dancing style has evolved through roots in Colombian folk, ballet training and the whole gamut of swing dances from lindy hop and jazz dance to collegiate shag. Since founding Ottawa’s first Swing school, Swing Dynamite, Natalia has taught throughout North America, Central America, Western Europe and Asia.
Sasha: Two times a California Balboa Classic winner with his partner Yulia, together they also proudly hold the title of 6-time Pure Balboa Classic champions. Sasha is much in demand teaching at dance weekends across Europe. In class, he strives to share his knowledge gained throughout his dance journey and to encourage his students to appreciate the joyful energy of Balboa, its subtle humour and the precious opportunity to be in the moment with the music. He uses his knowledge of tap dancing, percussion, and rhythm to bring out different aspects of musicality. He is knowledgeable on the history of the dance, and loves exploring partnership dynamics both in Pure Balboa and Balswing.
